
Nitte Institute of Communication organized a three-day workshop on "Environment and Development Communication" from 17th to 19th July 2023. The workshop was led by Prof K Phaniraj, Retired Professor, Manipal Institute of Technology, MAHE, an expert in the field of development communication, with a focus on environmental and sustainable development issues.

The morning session saw a discussion on the role and increasing presence of social media in everyday life. A short introduction to colour, design aesthetics, using images and appropriate fonts, followed.

Ammi, a Tulu short film made by alumnus of Nitte Institute of Communication, Sathwik Shetty (2017 BA JMC) bagged the first place in the Karnataka International Film Festival held at Hubbali from 8th to 10th December 2022. The film featuring popular actress Mansi Sudhir of Kantara fame has been written, directed and edited by Sathwik and produced by his mother Kushala Shetty. The film was also the official entry at the Mumbai Independent Film Festival and West Bengal Short Film Festival. NICO is proud of Sathwik and wishes him the very best....
Read More >>An Alumni Meet was held at Nitte Institute of Communication on 5th November 2022. A total of 50 alumni attended the Meet. Prof Raviraj, Head, NICO welcomed the alumni.
Students of the BA, MA and PG Diploma joined hands enthusiastically in welcoming the alumni and put up an entertaining evening of song, dance and games.
The alumni also participated enthusiastically and shared with their juniors their experiences at the workplace. Some of the alumni also spoke about the internship opportunities that they would be sharing with their juniors.
The fun filled evening ended with a high tea and with the alumni promising to come back for the next Alumni Meet....
On the occasion of Kannada Rajyotsava, the NSS unit of Nitte Institute of Communication, (NICO) organised a day-long event of talks and a screening on 3rd November 2022 at the University Auditorium, Paneer. The event started at 10.30 am with a welcome address by Prof Raviraj, Head, NICO. Sushmitha Shetty, Guest Faculty, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal spoke on the topic "Tejaswi, Environment and Creativity". In her lecture, Sushmitha explained the uniqueness of Tejaswi in his work and how well he characterizes the environment.

A Value-Added Course on Radio Jockeying by popular Radio Jockey, Content Creator, Stand-up Comic RJ Arpith, was held at Nitte Institute of Communication from 20th to 22nd January 2022.
The Course dealt with commercial radio and the various terms and formats used in programming for commercial radio. Terms like Litmus, Jock Talks, Hook, Spike were explained and he also impressed upon students how topical and humorous content was used by RJs to engage with their listeners.
