Two-day workshop on Portraiture and Fashion Photography

A two-day Workshop on Portraiture and Fashion Photography was conducted by popular fashion photographer Pritham D'souza, on 18th & 19th January 2024 at Nitte Institute of Communication. The workshop was held for the postgraduate students.
While Day-1 was about the way lighting is used in studio shots, Day 2 was about outdoor photography in natural light. Students got to see the pictures clicked by him with a detailed explanation of the lights and props used.

The Indian Red Cross Society, in collaboration with the Youth Red Cross (YRC), organised the National Youth Day 2024 to commemorate the 162nd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The Clean-up drive was held on 12th January 2024 at the Tree Park, Tannirbavi Beach, Mangalore.
The event witnessed approximately 200 students from various colleges of Mangalore. Nitte Institute of Communication organized a highly informative and engaging Theatre Lighting Workshop in association with St. Aloysius College, Mangalore, on 6th December 2023. An Alumni Meet was held on 4th November 2023 at the Institute premises. Students from BA, MA and PG Diploma in Photography & Filmmaking of the Class of 2023 attended the Meet.
The alumni were warmly welcomed by the Christian Wedding Band, escorted to the reception with a lot of singing and dancing. What followed was two fun-filled hours of music, dance, sharing of memories, clicking of pictures and wishing each other luck.
A good buffet lunch followed after which students moved to KSHEMA grounds for the Convocation....

The Under 25 Summit, considered to be the largest youth festival in the world was held at K S Hegde Auditorium on 7th October 2023. This is the second time Nitte University is hosting the event, the first being in 2019. The event was organised by students of Nitte Institute of Communication.

Tulu film Ammi bags the first place in the Karnataka International Film Festival 2022

Ammi, a Tulu short film made by alumnus of Nitte Institute of Communication, Sathwik Shetty (2017 BA JMC) bagged the first place in the Karnataka International Film Festival held at Hubbali from 8th to 10th December 2022. The film featuring popular actress Mansi Sudhir of Kantara fame has been written, directed and edited by Sathwik and produced by his mother Kushala Shetty. An interactive session with alumni Rahul Jothi, (BA JMC 2020), Art Director, TechWave, Hyderabad was held at Nitte Institute of Communication premises on 5th December 2022.
Speaking to students of final BA, Rahul spoke about working in advertising, brand planning and coming up with creative communication strategies. He stressed upon the importance of working on a portfolio while still in college. Having a good portfolio is the first step towards preparing for the real world, he said.

An Alumni Meet was held at Nitte Institute of Communication on 5th November 2022. A total of 50 alumni attended the Meet. Prof Raviraj, Head, NICO welcomed the alumni.
Students of the BA, MA and PG Diploma joined hands enthusiastically in welcoming the alumni and put up an entertaining evening of song, dance and games.
The alumni also participated enthusiastically and shared with their juniors their experiences at the workplace. Some of the alumni also spoke about the internship opportunities that they would be sharing with their juniors.
The fun filled evening ended with a high tea and with the alumni promising to come back for the next Alumni Meet....
