Gen Z and Gender

The NSS Unit of Nitte Institute of Communication organised a guest lecture 'Gen Z and Gender' on 21st October 2023 at the University Auditorium, Paneer Campus. L Romal M Singh, Asst. Editor, New Indian Express and Founder - The Queer Arts Movement, India delivered the talk.
Differentiating between "tags" and "identities", he described Identity as identifying oneself with a way of life. It could be identifying oneself with Lesbians, Gays, Transgenders etc. From this millennium onwards, awareness has increased and people are more open about talking of their preferences and choices. They also understand the concept of boundaries and respect each other's privacy, he said.
He also spoke about dating apps like Bumble where the present generation can be found hoping to meet their match and have a long-term relationship.
Dr Tapaswi H M, Asst Professor, NICO delivered the vote of thanks. Dr Pranamya Bhat, Asst Professor, Dept. of Humanities, Nitte University welcomed the gathering.
